Peace Angels
Turning guns into icons of peace. |
|
| World famous
artist Lin Evola started the Peace
Angels Project in 1992 when she saw an epidemic of violence while
living in Los Angeles. “I have a son that was 8 when I started this
project and could not ignore the world the way it was.”
Thus the Peace
Angels project was born. “We melt down weapons in areas of conflict, whether
in foreign countries or the streets of Los Angeles, and use that as a tool
to bring people together from diverse backgrounds.” Evola said. “Peace
Angels stand as beacons of hope and icons for peace.”
Evola cast her first bronze
sculpture called the “Renaissance Peace Angel” from firearms confiscated
from LA street gangs. It was installed at the Crossroads School in Santa
Monica in 1997 and the 8-foot statue was taken to the World Trade Center
in October 2001 where it stood as a memorial and symbol of world peace.
Evola’s goal is to place 13 Peace Angels each standing 30 feet high in
sites of conflict throughout the world from New York to Baghdad.
Evola will be in South Africa
in August to speak at the United Nations summit and unveil a three-foot
Marquette of the “Spirit of Africa” Peace Angel. The full size Peace Angel
will be erected in Johannesburg.
In order to continue her
wonderful work, Ms Evola is selling a limited number of one of kind gouaches,
oil paintings and sculptures. The tax deductible purchase will be a step
towards world peace and a beautiful addition to your home or business.

SOLUTIONS for Better
Housing
Help put a roof over their heads
and hope in their hearts |
|
The National
Committee for Habitat’s, a United Nations NGO, objective is to be a catalyst
to provide housing worldwide for those living under wretched conditions.
Approximately 20% of the
world’s population falls under this category. The National Committee for
Habitat (NCH) was founded in 1990, at the request of the United Nations
to create a non-government, non-profit, 501C3 entity that would discover
affordable and environmentally correct housing systems for families worldwide.
NCH supports the UN's mission to help ensure that every human being on
earth has affordable, healthy and safe shelter in a sustainable community
that nurtures growth protects the environment and develops individuals
that contribute to society.
"Healthy housing will create
better citizens, and by doing that you come a long way toward solving many
of the world's problems."
NCH’s concept is to create
Habitat Centers and a website so organizations, housing professionals and
governments seeking assistance in developing housing will have a central
place to learn all that is required to create sustainable communities.
NCH has sponsored educational seminars and conferences on the subject of
affordable housing at the United Nations and worldwide. Through the centers
and website they will provide the information and work as a bridge between
the private and public sectors. The National Committee for Habitat has
a fund-earning program for those who want to make a donation. NCH will
give to each donor original, hand signed and numbered artwork of one of
five different serigraphs of New York scenes produced in the late 1970’s
by Vestie Davis (1908 – 1978) an American original and well-known folk
artist for $400 each. Additionally NCH has four original Berlin Wall
Art Pieces from the Berlin Wall (1961 - 1989), each hand painted, and signed
by the artist and by the head of Check Point Charlie Museum in 1989. These
are rare, each is approximately 20” x 30”, weigh approximately 40 lbs and
are $5,000. The tax-deductible funds received will be used to help create
the NCH affordable housing website. An idea for developers is to donate
$25 of each sale for the next 6 months. We will provide your resort with
a Certificate of Appreciation to put in your Welcome Center and a Thank
You follow up to your new members.
