IRC SYSTEMS INTRODUCES BRAND NEW TECHNOLOGY
TO
Atlanta (May 1st 2002) -- In Room Concierge Systems (IRC), an innovative virtual concierge service based out of Atlanta has launched a first to market technology that provides a completely wireless solution and high-speed Internet access through entire hotel and multi-dwelling properties. In late December 2001, IRC launched a pilot program for the new wireless technology in the Courtyard by Marriott in Buckhead, Atlanta, which enables business travelers, hotel guests, and residents to get online in seconds vs. minutes. IRC’s technology allows for Internet mobility throughout the hotel property/residential property, and is completely unique in its capabilities; accessing local information about the city including restaurants, entertainment, shopping and more; all free of charge. “For the first time ever we are presenting a system that is not attached to a telephone or TV. It is a completely separate technology, with its own unique capabilities unlike anything in the market today. Furthermore, we are in pat-pending with plans to patent our concept shortly,” says co-founder Jill Rosenfield. Free of charge, the flat screen wireless kiosk allows for personal concierge service at any time of day or night in the privacy of the hotel room or home. The IRC kiosk can currently send and receive e-mail, open documents, surf the web, and provides local city information. In addition, it provides advertisers with 24/7/365 exposure, which is all traceable or measurable in its results, and is extremely valuable to the advertiser in regards to ROI. As IRC continues to grow, new functional capabilities will be added including, e-commerce, online reservations, Web cam capabilities, virtual directions, downloadable movies and web casts, and city to city scheduling and planning. Companies have budgeted and spent tens of millions of dollars creating high-speed broadband networks in hotels across the country. These same companies believed that a large percentage of travelers would readily pay a fee to use their networks. To their apparent surprise, this did not happen, and many of the companies died on the vine. Observing this, IRC realized that the guest needed more than just access to justify their paying a fee. Thus, the In Room Concierge System was developed. “With our patent pending virtual concierge software and Intel powered wireless high-speed networks; our Beta Site resulted in a phenomenal above industry usage rate. Even more exciting was the proven ability to capture new revenue streams derived from outside of the hotel. We found that there is an entire market eager to access these captive guests and tenants and are willing to pay to do so”, says CEO and cofounder David Tyre.
As word about IRC spreads, the progressive company has been slated to go
from a single property in Atlanta, to multiple properties in Baltimore,
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and Manhattan. IRC has also
secured relationships with companies like Intel Corporation, Lodgian Inc.,
Zertia, Manchester Technologies and the Donovan Consulting Group.
